The Martin Luther Controversy

Bellwork:

What is the role of a priest in a church? What is the role and desires of ordinary people when going to church? Answered in notebook

Classwork:
1. In groups we read pages  367 starting at Need for Reform heading till page 370 paragraph #2
2. Then we read a short worksheet specifically about Martin Luther:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Hb0QsSmVsSJSFACxrdjCJOQXHkiPZIJd

As you read you need to take Cornell notes: EQ is " What conditions can encourage the desire to reform".

Then answer the question below together or individually:

Martin Luther has always been a controversial figure. Catholics and Prodestants have told very different versions of the story of his life and work. What could be some disagreements that Catholics and Protestants have over the impact that Martin Luther had on Christian religion? Can you think of someone else who is controversial?

*Name the person and explain how his or her story might be told in two very different ways*

We will discuss
