Leonardo De Vinchi Journal Page Project

Leonardo Da Vinci Worksheet
Historical Situation: Leonardo da Vinci kept a notebook where he wrote down ideas throughout the day as he thought them up. It included sketches of everything you can imagine and little notes to himself including his shopping lists! He wrote the book in a form of coded mirror-writing so people couldn't easily read his ideas. To make it even harder for them to steal his inventions da Vinci would often put a mistake in his diagrams on purpose.
Your Task: Create a page of da Vinci's notebook for a modern invention.
Instructions:
1. Choose a modern invention (anything that didn't exist during the Renaissance).
2. Sketch the item from 3 or more angles.
a. Does not have to be colored or perfect.
b. Must show key details.
c.  Include one fake detail that would make the invention less useful or not work at all.
3. Describe it in writing (backwards)
a.                Write at least 5 sentences describing the parts of your "invention". These should be spread all over the page.
b.                Each sentence should describe a different function or part that makes the invention work.
c.Write the sentences backwards!

4. Think/Pair/Share, pair off with partners and share with your partner your final product. Engage in a persuasive a pesuasive discussion to "sell"your invention, ...keep in mind it is the renaissance period when you are having this discussion

Bellwork 10/23

Hello! The questions that we discussed in class are below:

11.     In 630, Muhammad returned to Makkah with 10,000 men. What was his status at this important time?

2.      Why is it important for governments today to have clear lines of succession? Muhammad dies just two years after returning to Makkah. What might have happened in the Arab world after the death of Muhammad?

For the answers that we discussed:

  1.  He was the messenger of Allah- the founder of Islam, he was a general who lead a strong army, and he was the head of church and state due to in Islam they mix politics and religion.
  2. A new leader would have been needed and there would have been a struggle for power. The interpretation of Islamic law could have changed. A division among the Islamic leaders could have caused a fracture that would cause the religion to disappear.
Today we also went over how you have access to make-up work and how to access the textbook from class online.

Under the headings Islam, Chrisitanity, and Judaism you are going to put the differences of each religion. Under the similarities tab you are going to put what each religion has in common. I have given you an example.
